244. Privacy Settings on Social Media

Alex: Hey Sam, I’ve been thinking a lot about my online privacy lately. Do you know how to adjust privacy settings on social media?

Sam: Yeah, it’s really important to keep your information safe. Which platform are you worried about?

Alex: Mostly Facebook and Instagram. I’ve heard some stories about people getting hacked.

Sam: Let’s start with Facebook. First, go to your settings. There, you’ll find the Privacy section. You can control who sees your posts and personal info.

Alex: Okay, I see it. Should I set everything to 'Friends' only?

Sam: That’s a good start. Also, check the settings for tags and timeline. Make sure you review posts you’re tagged in before they appear on your timeline.

Alex: Got it. What about Instagram?

Sam: On Instagram, go to your profile and tap the three lines to open the menu. Then go to Settings and Privacy. You can make your account private so only approved followers can see your posts.

Alex: Sounds easy enough. Is there anything else I should do?

Sam: Yes, enable two-factor authentication on both accounts. It adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code sent to your phone in addition to your password.

Alex: I’ll do that. What about public Wi-Fi? Is it safe to use?

Sam: Be careful with public Wi-Fi. Avoid accessing sensitive information or logging into important accounts. If you must use it, consider using a VPN for added security.

Alex: Thanks, Sam. This is really helpful. I feel more confident about my online security now.

Sam: No problem, Alex. It’s always good to stay informed and protect your digital privacy.

Alex: Definitely. I’m going to update my settings right now!

Sam: Great idea! Let me know if you need any more help.
