159. Training Techniques

Trainer: Hi there, Sara! How's everything going?

Sara: Hey, Trainer! Things are good, thanks. I've been thinking about training my new puppy, Max, but I'm not sure where to start.

Trainer: Ah, that's great! Training a puppy can be really rewarding. Have you thought about what you want to teach him first?

Sara: Well, I'd love for him to learn some basic commands like sit, stay, and come when called. But I'm not sure how to go about it.

Trainer: Those are excellent commands to start with. One effective method is positive reinforcement. Whenever Max performs the desired behavior, like sitting, give him a treat and lots of praise. This helps him associate the action with something positive.

Sara: That makes sense. I'll definitely give that a try. What about potty training? Max has been having accidents in the house.

Trainer: Ah, yes, potty training can be a bit tricky. For that, consistency is key. Take Max outside regularly, especially after meals and naps. When he goes potty outside, give him a treat and praise him. And if you catch him in the act indoors, gently redirect him outside.

Sara: Got it. Consistency and positive reinforcement. Thanks for the tips, Trainer! I'm feeling more confident about training Max now.

Trainer: You're welcome, Sara! Just remember to be patient and consistent, and you'll see progress in no time. If you have any more questions along the way, don't hesitate to ask.
