286. Holiday Celebrations

Emma: Hey Raj! Do you celebrate any special holidays in your culture?

Raj: Hi Emma! Yes, we celebrate Diwali. It's a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus all over the world.

Emma: Oh, that sounds fascinating! What do you do during Diwali?

Raj: Well, we decorate our homes with colorful lights and candles called diyas. We also exchange sweets and gifts with family and friends. And the best part is the fireworks display at night!

Emma: Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun! In my culture, we celebrate Christmas. We decorate Christmas trees, exchange gifts, and have a big feast with turkey and all sorts of delicious food.

Raj: That sounds wonderful too! Do you have any other unique customs during Christmas?

Emma: Yes, we also sing Christmas carols and attend midnight mass at church on Christmas Eve. It's a time for family togetherness and spreading joy.

Raj: That's beautiful! It's amazing how different cultures have their own special ways of celebrating holidays.

Emma: Absolutely! I love learning about different traditions and customs. It makes the world feel so diverse and colorful.

Raj: Definitely! It's what makes each culture unique and special.

Emma: Thanks for sharing about Diwali, Raj. I'd love to experience it someday!

Raj: You're welcome, Emma! And I'd love to experience Christmas with you too. Sharing and learning about each other's traditions is what makes friendships even more meaningful.

Emma: Totally agree, Raj! Let's make it a point to celebrate together sometime.

Raj: Absolutely, Emma! That sounds like a plan.
